When you live on a tight budget, buying frames for your family photographs may be too pricey. One of the ways you can deal with that is to frame your own pirctures and artwork. This will enable you to to have beautifully framed family photos and artworks for your home, at a fraction of the cost you would pay to have them professionally done.
The following instructions are for a wooden picture frame. It is assumed that you do not cut your own glass or frames, as the tools are a bit pricey and should be bought only if you plan to run a small framing busines. For the beginner, or sometime framer, there are many frame shops willing to cut your glass and frames for you for a small fee.
Essential tools/materials:
1 meter clamps
Panel pin hammer & panel pins
set square
craft knife
spray adhesive
wood glue
moldings
cup hooks & picture wire
paper tape
Nails
Optional tools:
Mount board cutter (could be pricey. Some framing shops will cut your board for you for a small fee)
Glass cutter (again, you could purchase glass already cut to size.)
Instructions
1.Measure up the picture, and cut the mount board accordingly (the bottom side is
always longer than top)
2. Mount picture onto the card and cover it with the cut mount.
3. Cut the molding to fit around mount.
4. Glue all 4 corners using the meter clamps
5. Fit the glass, mount, picture and backing board into frame
6. Nail around inner edge
7. Finish off with paper tape to prevent moisture/dust from getting into the
frame
8. Put on the hooks and wire at the back of the picture to hang the frame with.
