Supplies Needed:
Clear glass or plastic ornaments
(The number needed is determined by how many
balls you want to make.)
Acrylic Paint ( Assorted colors )
Water
Vinegar
Paper Cups
Directions:
Remove the hangers from the tops of all ornaments and place aside.
Rinse the inside of the ornaments with 3 parts water and 1 part vinegar. Rinse ornaments again with clean water and let dry thoroughly, preferably overnight.
Once dry, take 3 colors of acrylic paint, and drizzle one color at a time down the inside of the balls, in three separate places.
(Example: On one side drizzle Gold, on one side drizzle Red and on other side drizzle Pearl.)
Place ornament upright inside a paper or plastic cup. Pick ornament up and rotate sideways every 5-10 minutes, until paint has completely covered the inside of the ball.
Once covered, turn ball upside down and drain excess paint into cup; usually takes 12-24 hours.
Let dry for 3-5 days. The paint will continue to harden and "marblelize" as it stands. Once dry,
replace hangers in the tops of ornaments.
It is best to use at least three different colors to get a good effect with your ornaments. You may choose several different colors of acrylic paints and experiment with different colors for each ornament.
Some of the colors that we used were Opaque Red and Pale Gold; Blue, Pearl and Silver Gleams;
Green, Black Cherry and Gold.
Make sure when you rotate, to turn ornament completely in a sideways circle, so that the paint swirls together, making a marble pattern.
